Kindergarten

Today is Lauren's first day of school. I feel sad. I can't believe she is old enough to start Kindergarten. I can't believe the last 5 years have flown by like they have.

She did great, by the way. She has been a mix of nerves and excitement for the last month and the closer we got to first school day, the more nervous she got. She really struggles with new situations and new people. By the grace of God, her teacher is the mom of one of the little boys she played soccer with. I believe 100% that is reason she did great this morning.

She woke up crying and refusing to get dressed because she did not want to go. She and I had a little "come to Jesus" talk and by the end of it, she was cheerful and excited and bouncing off the walls. She got a little nervous right before we walked in the classroom, but Mrs. Berry walked right up and started talking to Lauren and showed her where to put her lunch and backpack and she was good. She sat down at her seat and started coloring a picture. I can't believe it.

Now, who knows how tomorrow will go... she is catching the bus from our neighborhood and riding it to school and then taking the daycare bus to daycare after school. That's a lot of new things, so we'll see. I can't wait to go pick her up and see how her day was and get her new charm for her bracelet. :)

Here's a picture of her at her desk:
